Farji-Brener (2012) cuestionó el valor del número de citas como un indicador de la calidad de un trabajo científico y de un investigador. Concuerdo con él en que no es un indicador perfecto, pero creo que su texto exagera las limitaciones. La exageración radica en el uso de la analogía con la actividad artística, que toma de Lawrence (2007), y en las conclusiones que extrae de algunos hechos indiscutibles.
