Variación estacional de Drosophila spp. en Mar del Plata, Argentina
Abstract
In temperate and cold regions, climatic factors strongly influence Drosophila populations, determining the limits of distribution of species and the rate of population increase. The aim of this study was to analyse seasonal variations in Drosophila populations. Flies were collected in Mar del Plata city during one year. Seven species were caught: Four species are cosmopolitan: D. simulans, D. inmigrans, D. busckii y D. hydei, two are semicosmopolitan: D. mercatorum y D. subobscura and only one is endemic: D. gaucha. Abundance of Drosophila species significantly changed trough the seasons. Spring showed the maximum diversity and winter the minimum. Cluster analysis revealed that species had a seasonal association pattern: D. simulans and D. inmigrans were more frequent in summer-autumn and D. subobscura in spring. D. gaucha was more abundant in winter and D. busckii and D. mercatorum in autumn-winter.
