Silvia was a woman who knew how to balance the dedication to her family, to her work in the faculty and in the field, and to her friends, among whom, especially, her teacher, Rolando León. She was the daughter of two distinguished Argentine botanists (Nélida S. Troncoso and Arturo E. Burkart), wife of Antonio Hall, and mother of Andrew and Sonia. Those of us who knew her will always highlight, in addition to her knowledge of flora and ecology, her intellectual generosity and her willingness to listen and help colleagues. Solidarity, humble and affectionate, always supported the intellectual and human growth of students and colleague.
