Estimación de la productividad primaria neta de ecosistemas terrestres del mundo en relación a factores ambientales
Resumen
Se elaboraron modelos de la productividad primaria neta aérea (PPNA) de ecosistemas terrestres con minima intervención humana, en relación a factores climáticos, edáficos y vegetacionales. Investigaciones anteriores resultaron en modelos climáticos elaborados con información limitada. Es de interés, entonces, analizar la relación entre la PPNA y el clima con una base de datos más amplia. Se supone, además, que dicha relación depende del tipo de ecosistema y de las condiciones edáficas. A escala global la precipitación y la evapotranspiración fueron las únicas variables estadísticamente significativas. La relación entre la PPNA y las variables climáticas dependió del tipo dc: ecosistemas: la PPNA varió linealmente con la precipitación y la evapotranspiración en los dos tipos de pastizales considerados. La función logística es la que mejor ajustó los datos de bosques tropicales, en tanto que los datos de bosques templados en su conjunto no mostraron una relación clara con el clima; sin embargo, la PPNA de bosques templados perennifolios exhibió una relación lineal eon las variables relacionadas al uso de agua y temperatura, y los datos de bosques templados caducifolios sólo se relacionaron significativamente con la edad. La capacidad productiva de los suelos también afectó la PPNA. El efecto fue corroborado a nivel global y en los pastizales tropicales. La eficiencia en el uso del agua (cociente entre ANPP y evapotranspiración) indica que los bosques son los más eficientes y los pastizales templados Ins menos eficientes. Se estimó que la producción primaria neta aérea en América Latina es de 13x109 toneladas anuales.
